We need a world of tolerance. We are not the same, but we are one tribe. Listening costs nothing, but the payoff may be immense. ALL of US want to be heard. It validates us. Listening is an invisible touch, that says, “you matter”. We need to develop empathy for each other. We need civility. All of our civilizations are dependent on this, or we will self-destruct. It does not matter your race, color, creed, or station in life. We must practice kindness. Peace, to all reading this.
Kathleen Mooney pledged 2018-11-28 02:52:38 +0100
If we can’t hear each other, we will never learn to appreciate, or at the very least accept, each other’s positions. If we cannot share and argue about our political positions, we cannot have a democracy and based on my experience, living in a democracy is important enough to work at keeping it..
Kyree Curtis pledged 2018-11-01 17:18:13 +0100
Now more then ever this world needs to awaken and notice what is going on around them. No matter a persons race or religion or language we must shed the stereo type and look at each other with love as a first impression not hate.

As someone with several privileged identities, it is my responsibility to do the emotional labor of meeting people where they are.
Cesar Valdez pledged 2018-11-11 05:03:18 +0100
In an increasingly polarized world, I want to work toward building bridges across our differences. May we all open our hearts to one another again.
Kathleen Guiles pledged via Cesar Valdez 2018-11-01 21:44:07 +0100
I have found that listening is one of the greatest gifts a person can give, sending a message of openess, receptivity, connection and curiosity. So important in the relationship centered and healing work we do.
Michael Linkevich pledged via Cesar Valdez 2018-11-01 04:18:04 +0100
The divisiveness we are experiencing is really concerning. This pledge is in line with my purpose in life which is to increase connections.
Rachel Rahn pledged via Cesar Valdez 2018-10-30 00:26:32 +0100
Because I believe whole heartedly what Cesar said about the various parts in all of us. If I can bring a loving, connected presence to the interaction – to any interaction – oftentimes I notice my own and other peoples’ parts softening thereby paving the way for more heart centered dialogue and understanding, even if we agree to disagree in the end.

I pledge because I do believe all people are good, at their core, and that anger is misplaced fear, and that the way to understand someone’s fears is by gaining trust which we can only gain by listening in an honest and real way. So yes, I pledge to listen.
Katie Appeldorn pledged 2018-09-24 16:31:52 +0200
These days, everything is polarized, and people are pulling farther apart. If we actually listened to each other, instead of name calling, we would find out that we want the same things and have the same needs.
Hermione Garland pledged via Jason J Reynolds Reynolds 2019-05-13 23:02:01 +0200
I believe we are one human family. It’s only by listening and hearing each other’s real concerns that we can move forward. I also find it challenging to always respond with compassion when someone is expressing views I find harmful or repugnant. The pledge will be a good reminder that I want to live my highest ideals, not just impose them on others.

The kingdom of God doesn’t wait.. it moves, and if you don’t move with it you’ll miss it. Love if not accompanied by action is dead. Love moves, and it will shake nations.
Jacalyn Engler pledged via Jason J Reynolds Reynolds 2019-04-10 06:02:38 +0200
I don’t want to judge people by skin color or religion, as long as they are trying to do what they feel is right and especially of they are kind. However, there are some people that harm others, and our world, intentionally due to greed. I find that hard to deal with.
Ana G. Biele pledged via Jason J Reynolds Reynolds 2019-04-08 01:50:04 +0200

Fear prevents people from communicating and connecting. By pledging to listen, we are not allowing fear to control and divide us. Rather, we are breaking down the walls that divide us, and acknowledging our shared humanity and the value of our precious existence.
